Valencia County Jail Roster

The Valencia County Inmate Roster is a public resource that allows you to find out who is currently in custody at the Valencia County Detention Center in New Mexico. Public information about current and recently released inmates can be found on the ValenciaCourt.us website. Additionally, data is available through the official detention center website, by phone, or in person at the facility's lobby. The roster search allows you to check an individual's custody status, view charges, and booking date. The roster is maintained by the Valencia County Detention Center, located in Los Lunas, and is updated regularly.

Search Current Inmates in Valencia Jail

To find information about an inmate at the Valencia County Detention Center, use one of the methods below.

Online Search

  1. Visit ValenciaCourt.us to search for public court and penitentiary information.
  2. Visit the Detention Center page on the official Valencia County website — it provides information about inmate services, visitation schedules, and contact details.
  3. If the facility provides an inmate list in a list format, use the browser's search function (Ctrl+F or Cmd+F) to quickly find a last name.

To start a search, you will need the individual's full legal name or booking number, if known. Records of juvenile offenders are not displayed in the public roster.

Find Valencia Jail Booking Records Online

A booking record is created at the moment a detained person undergoes processing at the detention center. It is the first official document that records the fact of custody.

During booking, the following information is generated:

  • Unique booking number
  • Date and time of intake
  • List of charges
  • Name of the arresting agency
  • Basic identification details of the detainee

Access to booking records can be obtained in several ways. The quickest is the online roster on the detention center's website or through ValenciaCourt.us. If an official copy of the record or a document not publicly available is needed, submit a public records inspection request in accordance with the New Mexico Inspection of Public Records Act (IPRA). The request form can be found on the Valencia County request submission page.

To search for court cases related to specific charges, use the New Mexico Courts' Public Access portal — it provides case searches for Valencia County Magistrate Court and District Court.

Search the Valencia Jail Roster by Last Name or Booking Number

The roster supports two main search methods.

Search by Last Name

Enter the last name of the detained person. If possible, add the first name to narrow down the results — common last names may yield dozens of matches.

Practical tips:

  • Check the spelling. Even one letter error can lead to no results.
  • If the system supports partial search, try entering just the first few letters of the last name.
  • For hyphenated or apostrophized last names, try variations with and without them.

Search by Booking Number

If you know the booking number, enter it in the appropriate field. This method is the most accurate — it returns a single record without the risk of confusion between namesakes.

If the Search Yields No Results

The absence of results does not necessarily mean that the person was not detained. Possible reasons:

  1. The person has already been released, and the record has been removed from the current roster.
  2. The booking is not yet complete, and the data has not yet appeared in the system.
  3. The name was entered incorrectly or in a different format.
  4. The person is held in another facility — for example, in a federal institution or a detention center in another county.

If in doubt, call the detention center directly and clarify the status by full name and date of birth. If the person has been sentenced and transferred to a state correctional facility, check the New Mexico Corrections Department offender search — but note that this department does not have jurisdiction over county and municipal facilities.

Jail Roster Updates and Search Limitations in Valencia

The Valencia County Detention Center roster only reflects individuals who are in custody at the time of viewing. It is not an archive of all past detentions.

The frequency of updates depends on the facility's internal procedures. Generally, data appears after the booking process is completed, but there may be a delay of several hours to a day between the actual arrest and the appearance of the record in the online system.

Known Limitations

LimitationExplanation
Delay between arrest and publicationData appears only after the processing procedure is completed, which may take several hours
Disappearance of records after releaseOnce an inmate is released on bail, by court order, or after serving their term, the record is usually removed from the current roster
Data entry errorsName spelling may differ from expected, especially for complex or foreign last names
MinorsRecords of individuals under 18 are not published

To obtain historical records of past bookings that are no longer in the online roster, submit an IPRA request to the Valencia County Detention Center or to the public records section on the county's website. State-level criminal history information is maintained by the Law Enforcement Records Bureau of the New Mexico Department of Public Safety — obtaining such data usually requires fingerprinting and a fee.
